Biography:
Joey was born in 1963 in Holland, in a small town called Almelo.Music was always important in his family. His Mother always tells people that one of the first songs he ever sang was “Dam – Dam!”…Joey was a baby and tried to sing Petula Clark’s – Downtown! Joey and his two brothers started playing their guitars and singing songs when they were in primary school. They called them selves the “William Brothers” All their six,- to twelve year old school-friends loved them!
After getting his school diploma Joey decided that there would only be time for making music. He preformed in bands, did a lot of spots, he wrote lyrics and music en tried only to follow his dream: to be a great rock-singer…
From the time when Joey was seventeen, eighteen, up till now, one thing always amazed people: he has this way of singing, which definitely reminds everyone to the legendary Elvis Presley. Joey never tried to impersonate Elvis, but somehow he has got that magic talent, that “Artist of the Century” had.
At the end of the eighties, Joey took a break. He tried to escape from making music and lived his live doing business. He wanted to be able to produce CD’s at his house, whenever he wanted to…So he started a company and earned his living in, what turned out to be, a digital world.Making music and singing never really disappeared, but that was more in background.
In 1997, Joey was introduced to a record-company named EMI, and one CD, Drift Away was produced. But still he wasn’t very happy at that time in the Dutch-music scene. Joey did recordings for other talented singers and produced children’s -road shows and CD’s.
In2002 Joey decided to make another change in his life and he was able to spend a lot of time at the Costa Blanca, in Spain. In 2003 he started singing again…
Over the years his voice,- and singing techniques kept on developing and Joey loves to sing and to see the happy faces of the audience when he is doing what he does best!
He sings Rock & Roll, beautiful ballads and of course the “Elvis songs”, all still sound fabulous!
People say he’s a modern Elvis, singing songs of the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, and 80’s. But whatever he sings, Joey is a great artist, with an impressive voice that leaves no soul untouched!!
